CAREY MARIN

CANDIDATE FOR COLORADO HOUSE DISTRICT 2
I'm a business owner, I've been married to my husband, Paul for 28 years and I'm a mom of four teenagers. My faith and family are what keep me grounded. I’m running for House District 2 in the South Denver, Wash Park/Cherry Creek area because I’m concerned for my children’s future. Families deserve a Denver that works again. The cost of living is too high. People don’t feel safe. And homelessness is still a real issue in our communities. I’m new to politics but I’m taking this on like I do everything else in my life- I’m all in. As a business owner, I’ve spent my career working on projects where if something doesn’t work, you fix it. That’s how I run my business and how we raise our family. And that's how I'll approach this office.
As your representative, I will work to get government spending under control, protect the taxpayers bill of rights and stop pushing new taxes and fees on families.
I will fight to make Denver safe again. Every day we see theft, drug use and disorder. We need tougher sentences for repeat offenders and more support for law enforcement so they can do their job.
We need real solutions for homelessness that actually address the root of the problem with a focus on outcomes, not just spending. Real accountability alongside support. We can be compassionate and still expect progress.
Stand up with me for what matters most. I’m Carey Marin and I’d be honored to earn your vote for House District 2. Together, we can make Denver work again.

ISSUES

COST OF LIVING
Make it easier to live here again. Families are working hard but everything costs more. Housing. Groceries. Taxes. Insurance. It adds up fast. This isn’t just supply and demand. It’s government spending, higher taxes, rising fees, less discretionary income and more pressure on working families. We need to get serious about costs. Let's start with putting a leash on government spending and cutting what’s driving prices up. Colorado has a Taxpayer Bill of Rights for a reason: to protect people from government growing faster than they can afford. We need to respect that again. What needs to change: -Get government spending under control -Protect TABOR and taxpayer refunds -Stop pushing new taxes and fees on families -Focus on what actually helps people keep more of what they earn We shouldn't feel like we're falling behind just to live here.
CRIME & SAFETY
Fight to make Denver safe. Safety isn’t complicated. It’s a basic right. But people don’t feel safe in their communities. Every day we're seeing theft, drug use and disorder. Repeat offenders are being released back onto the streets to harm our children. And what’s most frustrating is that it often feels like the same cycle of repeat offenders being released and ending up right back on the streets. That’s not fair to families. And it’s not fair to the people who are trying to do the right thing every day. Families shouldn’t have to think twice about walking their neighborhood, going to the store or letting their kids play outside. What needs to change: -Clear expectations and consistent enforcement of the law -Tougher sentences for repeat offenders -Beef up recruitment and support law enforcement so they can do their job -Stop ignoring quality of life issues Families deserve to feel safe in our neighborhoods.
HOMELESSNESS
Real solutions. Not more of the same. We all see it. And everyone wants it addressed. But the truth is we haven’t solved homelessness because we’re not approaching it the right way. This is not just a housing issue. It’s also a mental health and addiction issue. With homelessness, we see more drug activity and crime on our streets. It’s clear we need better solutions that actually address the root of the problem. Not policies that enable it.
What needs to change: -Better coordination between wrap-around services -Focus on outcomes, not just spending -Accountability alongside support
We can be compassionate and still expect progress.
